Equality In Academia. From Knowledge To Change
Abstract
Norway has a high reputation internationally for its gender equality policy in most areas of society. When it comes to education, there is a majority of women among the students. Among employees at universities and colleges, the situation is quite different. In recent decades, many attempts have been made to increase the gender balance and equality within the institutions in the university sector, and there are gradually a number of Norwegian and international reports, books and articles in the field. The book Equality in academia is in a special position in this literature in that an in-depth study of a male-dominated faculty has been carried out, providing in-depth knowledge with relevance not only for the specific faculty, but for academia in general as well as for other social institutions.
