Abstract

This article investigates the influence of participation costs on stakeholder inclusiveness in decision-making processes. Stakeholder engagement is widely recognized as an essential component of effective governance, policy-making, and organizational decision-making. However, various barriers and costs associated with participation can hinder the inclusiveness of stakeholder involvement. This study aims to shed light on the relationship between participation costs and stakeholder inclusiveness, exploring the dynamics of engagement. The article begins by discussing the concept of participation costs and their potential impact on stakeholder inclusiveness. Participation costs encompass various factors such as time commitment, financial resources, information requirements, and cognitive efforts. These costs can create barriers that limit the accessibility and diversity of stakeholder involvement, potentially leading to the exclusion of certain groups or individuals.
